'''The Black Onyx''' is an early Japanese RPG by Henk Rogers of Bullet-Proof Software. A bestseller on Japanese home computers for around two years, it was acknowledged as an influence by the creators of ''Hydlide'' and ''The Legend of Zelda'' — games which in turn were highly influential — making ''The Black Onyx'' a direct progenitor of most, if not all, JRPGs today.
