NIMROD was created in 1951 by the computer company Ferranti as a demonstration for the Festival of Britain in 1951. The machine played the board game nim using a display of a series of lights. It was shown in various forums from May 1951 to 1953, making it the first publicized video game shown in multiple locations and potentially seen by thousands of individuals.
