The Black Onyx
From Videogame Morgue File
The Black Onyx is an early Japanese RPG by Henk Rogers of Bullet-Proof Software. A bestseller on Japanese home computers for around two years, it was acknowledged as an influence by the creators of Hydlide and The Legend of Zelda — games which in turn were highly influential — making The Black Onyx a direct progenitor of most, if not all, JRPGs today.
