----------------------------------------------------------
Well the big day Sega fans have been waiting for is almost
upon us. Well for the lucky Americans at least, heh. No
seriously, I'm really excited about the US Launch, and I
live half way around the world! So this is a special
pre-launch issue, with a guide to which games are worth
spending your money on, what peripherals you'll need, and
of course we can't forget...
The final results of the 100 Sega Questions. Find out who
the Ultimate Sega Professor is, and check out all the
answers.
Finally, this is a little blatant advertising, but I
just gotta tell you about it... be sure to see what's
opening at Sega 2000 on 9/9/99 (doesn't have anything to
do with the launch though, that just seemed a good date
to open it)
Until next week, Happy Gaming!

======| NEWS |============================================
----------------------------------------------------------
>>>> New Sonic Team Games Announced
While sites reported 2 of Sonic Team's 4 new games being
revealed this week, I'm not sure if that's true myself.
The first was Sonic Adventure International - the US
version of Sonic Adventure for Japan. Then the second is
more interesting, a 4 player online fighter, designed
specifically for the Dreamcast Network!
Sonic Team was set to announce a new game every week of
September, the first being on Sep 3rd. Chu Chu Rocket
(the fighting game) was announced on that date. So does
Sonic Adventure International count as one of those 4?
Hopefully we'll find out soon.
Chu Chu Rocket will be released in Japan this November for
the super low price of 2800yen (about US$25!). Then a
limited edition version of the game, packaged with a
transparent-orange Dreamcast controller will go on sale
for 4800yen (about US$45).
>>>> Iomega Zip Drive Confirmed
It's the not the way I would of expected it to happen, but
never the less, the Iomega Zip Drive add-on for the
Dreamcast has been confirmed.
"Golf Yaruze! Let's Play Golf" is to be released later this
year in Japan, but the developers, Bottoms Up, mentioned it
uses the upcoming Zip Drive add-on. The exact uses haven't
been revealed yet, but rumors say new courses can be
downloaded, and there may even be a course-creator!
Expect more details and pictures of the actual Zip Drive to
be released at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
>>>> US Dreamcast Delays
Unfortunately this headline is used more often than I'd like,
but at least this time it isn't all bad news...
DMA's tank combat title, Wild Metal, has been delayed till
January 2000, but with good reason! The developers are
holding off till they can include internet play on Wild Metal.
Could this happen with other games like Sega Rally 2 as well?
Finally this week, Ubisoft announced that their racing game,
Speed Devils, has been pushed back from a launch title (left
the announcement to the last moment didn't they?) till
September 30th.
>>>> Final Launch Lineup Confirmed

>>>> New Sega Europe website

website. Featuring a very nice Shockwave design, it's
well worth checking out!
>>>> Toejam & Earl 3 Update
After the fun that was Toejam & Earl 1 & 2 on the Mega Drive,
of course I'm looking forward to the next sequel. While there
hasn't been too much news, or anything in fact, about the game
lately, I checked up on ToeJam & Earl Productions to make sure
it's still going ahead.
While the first version might be for the Playstation 2,
they say this mostly because of the "wait and see"
attitude many publishers are taking with the Dreamcast.
Still, here's what our main aliens had to say...
"Earl and Myself are, as you know, highly funky Aliens from
Outer Space, and as such, completely ag-nos-tic (been
studying up on your earthling dictionaries) about... what
are they called again... Game Flatporms... no, uh,
Trapflorms... that is... TJ&E Viewing Devices. all we truly
care about is being appreciated throughout the Universe
for our Galactic Cool... but that Earthling Dentist can
keep HIS Appreciation to himself! we are, however, very
pleased to hear that your Earthling Company, known as Sega,
is in the process of launching another potential Viewing
Device that seems to have other Earthlings quite excited.
We will, of course, be seen through that Device eventually
(it's inevitable... we ARE Funklords after all), but we
still can't say for sure when."

>>>> Namco's Zone Crisis

Naomi arcade game. It seems this might be the sequel to
Time Crisis, "Zone Crisis". This still isn't confirmed
yet, but it sounds good indeed!
>>>> Half Life On Dreamcast
Rumors say deals are still being negotiated for a port of
Half Life to the Dreamcast next year.

======| FEATURE |=========================================
----------------------------------------------------------
>>>> DC Weekly Launch Guide
>>>> Peripherals
O Visual Memory Unit (VMU)
Used to save your games, and download mini-games onto, a
VMU is required. You get 200 blocks of memory, with
most mini-games taking up around 120. Because of that, I
would recommend picking up an extra VMU if you can afford
one.
Buy If: Your getting a Dreamcast :)
O Jump Pack
The Rumble Pack for Dreamcast. It slots into your controller
or light gun, and of course rumbles at certain times. Some
games don't use it much (Sonic Adventure), where as others
(TNN Motorsports SM HardCore Heat) put it to great use.
Buy If: You want a little extra experience with your games.
O Fishing Controller
A very well made peripheral indeed, but it's only use is
on Bass Fishing (due out October 99). Including a built
in rumble feature, it really gives the whole fishing
experience a realistic feel as you wind and cast the
reel.
Buy If: Personally I wouldn't buy this at launch, unless
you have loads of money to spare. You can't do anything
with it until Bass Fishing is released in October.
O Dreamcast Controller
Some people are annoyed it only has 4 front buttons,
instead of 6 like the Saturn... but you'll get over it.
With 2 slots for a VMU and Jump Pack, and 2 analog
triggers, this is a great design.
Buy If: You'll need to pick up at least 1 extra controller.
But if you love having the friends over for a game, I'd
get 3 more.
O RF Adapter
Allowing the Dreamcast to attach to older TV sets, their
is little choice of buying this or not.
Buy If: Does your TV require one?
O Dreamcast Keyboard
As with all of Sega's peripherals this is well designed.
If your going to be using the Dreamcast's internet and
in particular e-mail functions, this really is a must.
Remember how long it takes to enter your name using
the controller? Well imagine typing an e-mail like that!
Buy If: Your going to be using the Dreamcast's internet
and e-mail functions.
O Arcade Stick [Agetec Inc.]
The Arcade Stick for Dreamcast features a heavy duty
metal base for stability, six large buttons in a
traditional arcade layout, a VMU slot, and a stick
that will stand up to the heaviest competition.
Buy If: You really like fighting games - Virtua
Fighter 3:TB, Power Stone, Ready 2 Rumble, Soul
Calibur, Mortal Kombat Gold.
O Rally Wheel [Agetec Inc.]
What the Arcade stick is to fighting fans, this is
to driving fans. Pretty pricey, but if you do play
lots of driving game, it's well worth it. Also it
includes a port in the back for pedals in the
future perhaps.
Buy If: Your into driving games - Sega Rally 2,
TNN Motorsports SM HardCore Heat, Tokyo Xtreme
Racer, Monaco Grand Prix, Cart Flag To Flag.
O Starfire Light Blaster [Interact]
Since SOA isn't releasing their light gun in
the US, it's upto 3rd parities. This is the
Dream Blaster (below) are the first. Gamers
get auto-fire, 8-way direction pad, VMU/Jump Pack
Slot, and automatic and manual reload settings.
With the ability to fire 16 shots per second
this is one awesome gun!
Buy If: You plan to get House Of The Dead 2
O Dream Blaster [MadCatz]
Features three different modes: normal, auto
reload and auto reload and fire. Also has slots
for VMU and Jump Pack of course. However, it's
the same price ($29.99) as the Starfire Light
Blaster (above), and has less features. I would
have to recommend picking up the Light Blaster
instead.
Buy If: You plan to get House Of The Dead 2, and
like the look of the MadCatz gun better than the
Interact version.
