I don't know about you, but I love Halloween. I finally
saw Halloween H20 this year too, awersome! Anyway, I was
thinking about what I could put in this weeks issue to
celebrate, and I came across a long lost fan story from
Resident Evil (cue sudden spooky music).

It was written by Matt who used to work at Sega X, yet
it's missing from all their archives online. It really
is well written, so I couldn't resist sharing it with
everyone.

We have a Top 5 list of things you can do this Halloween,
and in the cheats section we dig up every cheat there is
for House Of The Dead 2, and also unleash some real power
in Trick Style.

The news this week includes a new racer, Sega GT, and
points about the Australian Dreamcast's (very intresting
read!).

Finally, don't forget to check out the Video Gamers
Leauge, and our rumours page for fishing in Eternal
Arcadia! Happy Halloween!

======| HALLOWEEN STORY |=================================
----------------------------------------------------------

>>>> Resident Evil Fan Story
>>>> Written by Matt

The dark night soon began to arrive. As I awaited the thick
red sun to set, and the moon to rise, I thought about what
had happened that day. What was going on? I spoke to John
earlier on that day, and while he seemed normal, the others
didn't. One of them, my friend, Peter, looked awful.
They all did. What started off as a "flu", began to turn
into something much worse. I don't know what's happening
to them. After all, I'm not a doctor, only the new caretaker
at the Raccoon Forest mansion. It's probably nothing, I
thought.

The next day, I went to visit Peter. His condition didn't
get any better. Peter, who is an expert scientist, and is
working on some secret experiment in the lab below, was in
no fit state to work. He lay in his bed, shivering, his
lips and skin ice cold.

"It's going to be all right Peter."
"I'm so... so cold Rick, so, cold."

There was nothing I could do. Our officials wouldn't even
let us call a doctor. Why the hell not?! Later on that day,
I spoke to Bradley, one of the head officers from the lab.
Looking forward to my two week break away from the mansion,
I was told that nobody could leave the grounds. Is this a
joke?! The evening soon arrived, time to feed the dogs.
They've been crying all day, I thought, poor things. As I
went out, I noticed one of them had a series of bruises and
scars on his face. Where did they come from? Trying not to
make too much of it, I fed them, and went to bed. It had
been a long day, and I was beginning to get tired.

The next morning arrived too soon. John came over and visited.
We discussed a few things, and while I didn't know what was
going on, he did.

"Ok, I'm going to tell you what's happening, well, what I
know anyway, but you have to keep it to yourself. I think
things are getting out of hand."
"Jesus John, if you know what's going on, tell me! Is it
some sort of outbreak?"
"Well, not exactly..... after a bizarre accident in the
lab below, some of the chemicals on the project they are
working on went all over one of the scientists."
"Who? What happened to him?"
"Eh, you don't know him. After a few days, the guy died.
I hear they cut off his head, and all his limbs. I don't
know why..... You must listen to me though. I'm going to
get out of here, I'm afraid this "T Virus" is the cause of
everyone becoming sick, and if it's fatal, I sure don't
want to catch it. I'm going to tell the police about this
immediately."
"But, what if the heads catch you?"
"I'm just going to have to take my chances. Listen Rick,
I'll be back within the week, I promise."

After that, John gave me one final smile, and left. I
stayed in my room for a while, and thought about the
situation. I had to do something. I then went to the
head chief of the laboratory, Shane Martins. He
reassured me that nothing was going on, and that it was
only a flu virus, which incidentally, he managed to catch
as well. Trying to hope for the best, I made myself
believe it. Suddenly, I heard a huge crash! It came
from the hall. The two of us went out to see what all
the commotion was. It was Peter!

"Peter, what are you doing out of bed? Are you feeling better?"
"Ughhhh, hungry, itchy, food...."
"Shane, he's hungry, lets get him some food quick, he's
very pale."
"Rick, get back, that's not Peter, there's something I
have to tell you."

Peter made a leap at me, grabbing onto my arm. Something
was wrong. I quickly pushed him away.

"Get away from him Rick, now!!"

With that, Shane took out a shotgun, and began to shoot
recklessly.

"Nooo, what are you doing!" I cried.

I closed my eyes. Two gun shots were heard straight after.
I slowly opened them, Peter was lying on the floor.

"What the hell are you doing Shane?!"

Shane walked over to the corpse lying on the ground. We
both stared at it, like as if nothing had happened, and
Shane hadn't actually killed him. Suddenly, the corpse
jumped up and bit Shane's leg!

"Ahhhh, you son of a...! Take this!"

He shot again, this time in the head. Peter fell to the
floor, and collapsed.

"What the hell is going on Shane?!"
"You had better come back into my office."

As soon as we got in, Shane made a number of phone calls,
each one saying "Go to Plan B". What was Plan B?

"Ok, I'll tell you exactly what's going on. In the
laboratory below, our scientists have been working on an
experiment known as the "T Virus". Once perfected, it
will give the average human being, like you and me, super
strength. Unfortunately, things have not gone to plan.
After trying out the virus on a number of test subjects,
all of them turned into some kind of zombie creature,
craving flesh from the living. It's.... it's like
something out of a horror movie. A number of people are
already dead, but in order to keep the situation calm,
we've had to keep everything quiet. It's gone past the
stage now, that we can't any longer. We have to put an
end to it, and kill these creatures. I don't care about
Umbrella any longer."

"Who are Umbrella?"
"Uh, nevermind, that's not important. Listen, take this
gun with you, if you see anyone else walking around, that
you think is a zombie, kill them immediately. I think if
you shoot them in the head, they will die almost instantly."
"Shane, I can't handle this. Is this for real?"
"I'm afraid so... Almost everyone in this mansion has
been infected. You don't seem to be, and I don't think
I am. Once you stay well away from these creatures, you
should be all right."

Shane's leg began to bleed badly. I grabbed a few bandages,
and wrapped up the wound. That should hold him for the
moment. He told me to investigate the area, so, without
waiting any longer, I slowly left the room. The mansion
seemed very gloomy and dark, almost evil. I hope John is
all right, I thought. It wasn't long before I spotted a
number of individuals. Were they zombies?

"Hello? Who are you?"

Nothing but a mutter aroused.

"Stand back, or I'll, I'll shoot!"

The group stumbled on, and I began to tremble. Suddenly,
I let a shot fire at them. It didn't stop them. They're
zombies, they have to be. My hand started to shake, it was
uncontrollable, I was unable to stay calm! I began
shooting and shooting, but I couldn't keep them back.
I slowly started to step away, and kept firing, until all
of a sudden, I ran out of bullets!

"Oh shit!"

I was cornered. The 4 of them began to moan loudly, and
I began to shout for help.

"Brrraaiinnsss" they grumbled.

I couldn't bear it any longer. I closed by eyes, hoping
things would end quick. In that moment of time, blood
plattered all over my head. Was it my blood? I opened
my eyes for one last look. 4 gunshots in all were made.
Who was doing it? The zombies fell to the ground, each
one letting a slow and painful groan out. I jumped off
them immediately, as if my life depended on it. It was
then that I saw the tall dark figure that had saved my
life. A bald black man stood there. He didn't look
like anyone I knew, that was for sure.

"Who, who, who are you?"
"I'm the guy who saved your life. Now what the hell is
going on here?"
"It's awful, there's zombies, everywhere. Almost
everyone is infected in this damn mansion!"
"Just as I thought. I'm going to get us out of here."

The guy took out a walkie-talkie.

"Enrico, are you there? Come in Enrico! Damn, it's
not working!"
"Who did you say you were?" I asked.
"Oh, Kenneth J. Sullivan, from the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo
Alpha Team."

Suddenly, a bang came from the door opposite. Someone
stumbled in, covered in blood. It was John....

John began to stumble in the door. He was badly injured,
but luckily, he had not become one of them. However, Ken
was sceptical, and tried to stay away from his body. I
however couldn't. I reached out my arms and let him rest
on the ground, on top of my legs. He started to cough
badly, spitting up blood every two or three seconds.

"Rick, please, please help me!" John screamed, like a
little child.
"Oh my God John, what happened, did those things get you?"
"Yeah, I never got out of the mansion, but I did manage
to call the police, they said they're sending in some
sort of rescue service."

"Yeah, that would be us. I'm Kenneth J. Sullivan from
the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team. We were sent in after a
number of bizarre incidents in Raccoon Forest. Men
were reportedly being eaten alive. After you called in,
we had to act fast, hence the arrival of our crew.
Unfortunately, we made a crash landing in the forest
outside. Several animals began chasing us, so we made
a run for the mansion. Unfortunately, I got split up
from the others. I've been trying to make contact
with them ever since."

"How many are there of you?" I asked.
"Oh, let me see, there's myself, Forest, Richard,
Rebecca, Enrico..."
"The pain! Help me!" John screamed.

His blood wounds were very bad. His knee was all
bitten. His shoulder was torn open, as if someone had
pulled him apart. There was no doubt about it, he was
going to die.

"Please, tell my girlfriend, Ada Wong. Tell her that
I love her, and I'm sorry. Please, tell her, I'm
sorry."
"John, hang in there, you're not going to..."

Before I could even finish the sentence, John gave a
final moan, and fell back to the floor.

"Those zombies. I'm going to kill every damn one!"

Kenneth tried to calm me down. I was in a state of
shock. I had only been here a few weeks. John was
my best friend at this lonely and inhuman death house.

"You have to let him go. We have to cut off his head,
before he turns into one of them."
"No Ken, please no. He's ok, he won't become one of
them. Lets get out of here, now."
"We have to, he'll become one of the living dead if
we don't!"

Ken pulled out a big knife. Just as he went to slash
his throat, a big bang from the other side of the room
was heard. Several zombies entered, about nine in all.
They knew we were in here, they could smell us. With
an immediate rage, I pulled out the magnum revolver from
Kenneth's pocket. I began shooting. I didn't care what
happened to me. I wanted them dead, I wanted them all dead.

"What are you doing Rick?! They'll kill you!"
"I don't care anymore. I'm going to send them back to hell"

I kept shooting, as the zombies gradually got closer, Ken
grabbed his bazooka gun. After sticking in an explosive
round, he began firing. Blood went all over the room, I
was almost happy, happy that they were paying for what
they had done to my friend, and every other person in this
place. It was almost like, some sort of adrenaline rush.

"Hahaha, die you scum!"
"Rick, get a grip of yourself!"

Soon, almost every living dead creature had fallen to the
floor. Even at that, I didn't stop. My anger had taken
over. I shot their arms, legs, torsos, then their heads.

"Damn you all to hell...."

Silence occurred. I needed more. I had to kill more.

"Quick Ken, we have to find them all, I'm going to kill
every single one. Give me your gun!"

Before he could reply, his walkie-talkie began bleeping.

"Hello is anyone there?", a voice echoed.
"This is Kenneth. Who's that?"
"Thank God, it's Enrico."
"Where are you?" Ken asked.
"What's going on Ken, who's that?"
"Quiet Rick. Enrico, where are you?"
"I'm in some sort of underground sewer. There's weird
green creatures everywhere. They're fast too, I've,
I've been injured, I think I'll be all right. Listen,
I've found a number of important documents and letters
from the lab. I've found out what's been going on, and
who the traitor is."
"A traitor? Who?"
"It's, it's one of the members from the S.T.A.R.S.
Alpha team. It's We..."

Suddenly, the walkie-talkie went dead. With a fit of
rage, Ken threw it against the wall. He then explained
what Enrico, their leader had said.

"So, it's some sort of conspiracy?"
"Yes, I believe so. He was just about to tell me who
the traitor was, I didn't get it."
"Listen Ken, lets try and get out of here. There's
something I want to do first, I want to hide the keys
in this mansion in hidden areas, so that the zombies
can't follow us. If there is anyone left alive in
here, they'll know where the look. "The first thing
we have to do is lock as many doors as we can."

We began to head out of the room. It was then that
I happened to look at myself. I was a mess, covered
in blood. A sudden chill ran through my body, what
was happening to me....?"

======| NEWS |============================================
----------------------------------------------------------

>>>> Sega GT: Homologation Special

Possibly the biggest Dreamcast related news recently was
the unveiling of Sega GT: Homologation Special. Sega GT, to be
released in Spring 2000 in Japan is being hailed as Sega's
answer to the Gran Tourismo franchise. Still, outside
of confirmation on the game's existence, there was
virtually no information available. Because some of us
here at Sega X are admittedly huge fans of Gran Tourismo,
and we're sure many of you readers are as well, we know
you're already in high anticipation of Sega GT. So, here's
the latest information on the game we were able to dig up.

First off, the game will indeed have both Racing Wheel and
Puru Puru Pak (Jump Pack in the US) support when it launches
in the Spring. The cars themselves will sport ultra
realistic driving physics, like for example, the ability
to us the parking brake for drifting into the twistier turns.
Each car will handle like their real life counterpart, and
be virutally identical down to the acceleration and braking
times. Speaking of the cars, the game will feature models
from JGTC (All Japan GT Championship), in addition to the
models from 8 US car manufacturers. A partial list of the
models featured, atleast in the Japanese version, include
the Toyta Supra, Nissan Skyline, Porche 911, Nissan Silvia,
Mazda RX7, Ferrari F355, BMW M3, Toyota MR2, Diablo GTR,
Honda NSX, Porche 964, and Nismo GTR. In total, the game
will feature over 100 Japanese car models.

In addition to the huge number of cars, Sega GT will
feature Championship, Single Race, Time Attack, Dual Race
(VS Mode), Replay Booth, and Internet Modes. The net mode
is for downloading extra features and ghost car data, etc.
The more we know about Sega GT the more impressive the
game sounds. - Written by Chris Tang & Sajed Ahmed

>>>> Dreamcast Australia Points

Thanks to Dreamcast Australia for this news item.
Steve O'Leary, the Dreamcast Communications Manager for
Ozisoft, has been spending a bit of time on the PlayNow
Forums to answer questions being posed by the public.
This is a summary of some of the more important points
raised.

O Ozisoft are looking at giving a bonus away with the
Australian Dreamcast for being so patient, although nothing
is confirmed yet.

O The console had to be delayed because Ozisoft weren't
given a shipment date (from SOJ) for the consoles. There
are also some issues with the browser disc but they pose
no problem to the November 30 release date.

O Production of consoles has been delayed in all territories
due to the high RAM prices after the earthquakes in Taiwan
recently.

O The Dramcast launch on November 30 will be accompanied
by 25-30 titles.

O There is no date yet for the beginning of advertising as
Ozisoft are still negotating time slots on the TV stations.
Ads will also appear in cinemas.

O Contrary to early reports Sega Rally 2 and Virtua Fighter 3
will not include a 60Hz option. The games have been optimised
in PAL 50Hz mode to run as fast as the NTSC version.

O Steve has confirmed that when online gaming begins next
year Sega Rally 2 will be one of the first titles.

O The demo disc with the system will include playable demos
of Monaco GP Racing Simulation 2, Toy Commander, Ready to
Rumble, Incoming, and Trick Style. Non-playable (movie)
demos include Virtua Fighter 3 : TB, Red Dog, Snow Surfers,
Power Stone, UEFA Striker, Tokyo Highway Battle, Sega Rally
2 and Sonic Adventure.
