Ties in with the release of SMASH COURT TENNIS™ PRO TOURNAMENT for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system

San Jose, December 20, 2001 - To tie in with the release of SMASH COURT TENNIS™ PRO TOURNAMENT for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Namco Hometek Inc. has announced that it will be a proud sponsor of this year's Siebel Open to take place from February 25 - March 3, 2002.

The Siebel Open is played in the Compaq Center at San Jose. It is the second oldest men's professional tennis tournament in the United States and has been won by virtually all of the tennis world's superstars including Arthur Ashe, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, and, more recently, Pete Sampras, Andre Agassi and Greg Rusedski. One of 68 tournaments in 31 countries, the Siebel Open is the first West Coast stop on the worldwide ATP circuit and draws more than 70,000 fans. It is also televised regionally, nationally and internationally. Scheduled to appear this year are U.S. Open champion Lleyton Hewitt, the world's #3 ranked player Andre Agassi, American teen sensation Andy Roddick and defending champion Greg Rusedski, plus many more world-class players.

Recently announced, SMASH COURT TENNIS PRO TOURNAMENT is a licensed title that brings all of the challenge and excitement of this most prestigious of sports. Players can participate as one of eight top-ranked tennis professionals in the world including Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Patrick Rafter, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Martina Hingis, Lindsay Davenport, Monica Seles, and Anna Kournikova. In addition to these dominant sports stars, Namco has added five game modes, four original players and plenty of surprises. Players will be given the opportunity to compete in four of the greatest tournaments in the world, including Wimbledon, the U.S. Open and the Australian Open. Beautiful and realistic motion-captured graphics and moves, as well as realistic sounds and in-depth game strategies will provide a true-to-life gaming experience and hours of play.
