SUNNYVALE, CA -June 20, 2000 - Capcom Entertainment today announced that Street Fighter III: Double Impact, the next title in one of the most prolific fighting game series is now available for Sega Dreamcast. Delivering two arcade hits in one CD, Street Fighter III: Double Impact „· contains Street Fighter III: New Generation and Street Fighter III: Second Impact. Street Fighter III: Double Impact sees the return of the series that started the fighting game phenomena more than a decade ago. Capcom¡¦s entire Street Fighter series has sold more than 500,00 coin-operated units, more than 24 million console games worldwide and generated more than a billion dollars in revenue. Street Fighter III: Double Impact is available at retail stores across the country. Street Fighter III: New Generation presents a cast of nearly all-new characters, a new graphics style, and a revamped fighting system. Perennial favorites Ken and Ryu return from Street Fighter II, while the rest of the cast is made up of entirelynew characters. Alex is a tough New Yorker who fights to avenge his defeated martial arts instructor, is the central character. Yun & Yang are twin Chinese masters of Kung Fu. Dudley is a gentlemanly Afro-British boxer. Ibuki is a female, high school-aged Ninja from Japan. Elena is the daughter of an African tribal leader. Oro is a 140-year-old hermit who fights with one arm. Necro is a Russian cyberpunk, and Sean is Ken¡¦s would-be student from Brazil. Each one of the characters possesses unique fighting styles and a variety of user selectable custom moves. Street Fighter III: Second Impact sees the return of all of the characters from Street Fighter III: New Generation and introduces three new characters. New to the Street Fighter Universeis Hugo, a pro-wrestler from the United States who uses his massive strength to execute deadly wrestling maneuvers and Urien, a man who comes from a highly intellectual family and has been trained all his life to become the leader of all men. Players canalsoplay as the legendary Akuma who makes his first appearance in the Street Fighter III games. Street Fighter III: Second Impact allows players to push two-punch or two-kick buttons to increase the damage they inflict on their opponent. Street FighterIII: Double Impact boasts several major enhancements to the popular Street Fighter fighting system. The addition of Parrying now allows players to deflect oncoming attacks. This aggressive form of blocking adds a whole new element to game play. Players can now choose one of three different Super Art moves for each character (formerly known as Super Combos) before the fight begins. This adds even more depth to head-to-head matches, as every fight is different depending on the Super Art choices of players. Street Fighter III gameplay will be extremely familiar and comfortable to fans of the Street Fighter II and Street Fighter Alpha series, while the new revisions add substantial complexity, depth and innovation.
