Here it is. The last issue I write of Sega World Weekly...
for three months :) Yes after the summer I'll be back from
America and ready to talk Sega, Sega, Sega again. But fear
not, for your left in good hands. Ross and Chris will
produce shorter issues every three weeks, keeping you up to
date.

If you've been reading the last two issues of SWW (which
every good gamer should have) you'll know Chris, while new,
is an excellent writer. Then Ross, our Q&A and letters guy
already runs his own magazine, Gamecube Weekly, so he's got
plenty of experience. Finally we can't forget Mike, our
staff writer who will give up some of his summer to write
about his favourite games brand.

Please don't reply to this email, because, well I won't be
here to read it. But you can email either Chris on
Heggelun@pilot.msu.edu or Ross on Zondaro@usa.net Don't
forget to drop by the forums either, which will be a great
way to keep in contact with you all...

http://www.segaworldweekly.com/forum/

In this weeks issue we take a look at every Dreamcast game
coming out over the summer! Plus cheats for Phantasy Star
Online Version 2, Q&A, news, rumors on the classic Phantasy
Star titles, and more...

I will be checking those. So it's with lots of excitement,
and a good deal of jealousy as you'll all be enjoying
Sonic Adventure 2, that I say catch you later, and head
away to Camp USA! Happy Gaming!

<<.>> Sega's Summer of Dreamcast
      -- Written by Graham Parker

To think it was only two short summers ago when we all
saving up for the Dreamcast's US launch, drooling over the
imported screen shots of a 128-bit Sonic, and learning just
how great the launch of Sega's super console was going to
be.

Now it's the final summer for young Dreamcast, and thank
Sega there's plenty of titles still coming to keep you from
getting sun burnt :) Our most anticipated titles are marked
with a plus, so you might want to think about getting a
summer job before August...

-- June:

6/19 + Sonic Adventure 2 - $39.99 - Platform - 1/2 players
6/19 - Soldier of Fortune - $39.99 - Shooting - 1 player
6/21 - Stupid Invaders - $29.99 - Puzzle - 1 player
6/22 - Exhibition of Speed - $19.99 - Driving - 1/2 players
6/28 - Atari Anniversary Edition - $14.99 - Retro
       1/2 players

The last two weeks of June have something for most gamers.
From platforming at insane speeds with Sonic, to shooting
with unbelievable realism in Solider of Fortune...

We'd recommend Sonic if your even the slightest bit
interested in Sega's spiky blue hero, as this will be his
final Dreamcast adventure, and you can trust Sonic Team to
make it a big one.

Solider of Fortune is, or should be, R18. Blow a guys leg
off and he drops to the ground screaming in pain. Nuff
said.

Stupid Invaders is meant for the gamer who wants to keep
his brain from dying over the summer... but with the toilet
humour in this point and click puzzler, it might actually
drop your IQ a few points. Honestly though, there's lots of
laughs to be had here, even if the game it's self isn't the
best ever made.

Next up is Exhibition of Speed, which is just a normal 3rd
party racer... although perhaps the fact it's the last
racer to ever appear on the Dreamcast will make a few
people take interest.

Finally you thought you'd get away from History over the
summer didn't you? Well Atari are back at it with another
retro collection (heh, which would figure given that they
don't actually exist anymore to create new games), and the
budget price of $14.99 could be a great chance to relive
the history of gaming.

-- July:

7/7 + Phantasy Star Online V.2 - $39.99 - RPG - Online
7/11 - Dragon Riders: Chronicles of Pern - $19.99
       Adventure - 1 player
7/18 - PBA Tour Bowling 2001 - $19.99 - Sports - Online
7/25 + Outrigger - $39.99 - Shooting - Online

July is a smaller month, with just four titles spread over
the four weeks.

The month starts off red hot with Phantasy Star Online V.2,
although Sega's new pay-per-play scheme might stop some
gamers from upgrading their copy. After all you can still
play the original PSO all you like online, for free. But
then again, with all that free time, who can resist going
for level 200?

Dragon Riders: Chronicles of Pern leaps out of the famous
book and into your Dreamcast next, and at just $19.99 any
adventure/RPG fans could settle down with this title fairly
well. Just don't except a Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Up for a little cross country bowling anyone? PBA Tour
Bowling 2001 has actually received some great previews, and
if all goes well online, this could be a great stop-gap
till Baseball and Football 2K2 come out next month. We
still suggest waiting for the reviews on this one, but it
looks hopeful.

Finally AM2's arcade/quake 3 style shooter hits the stores
at the end of July. Prepare your selves for it, because
this will be big!

-- August:

8/1 + World Series Baseball 2K2 - $39.99 - Sports - Online
8/1 + Floigan Brothers - $39.99 - Puzzle - 1 player
8/9 + Alien Front Online - $29.99 - Action - 1 player
8/16 + Matt Hoffmans Pro BMX - $44.99 - Sport - 1/2 players
8/22 + NCAA College Football 2K2: Road to the Rose Bowl
       $39.99 - Sport - Online
8/22 + Propeller Arena: Aviation Battle Championship
       $29.99 - Air Combat - Online
8/22 - Sega Bass Fishing 2 - $29.99 - Fishing - 1/2 players
8/29 - Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six - Oops, no it's actually
       out now... wow!

Ok we're into the end run of summer now, August. But Sega
don't want you going back to school, as hit after hit comes
out for your Dreamcast.

Starting with World Series Baseball 2K2, you can on all of
America over the net, and what's more, Visual Concepts
heard all your cries over the problems last year.

Then the cartoon style Flogian Brothers from Visual
Concepts is finally due for release. This early announced
Dreamcast title has been in development for years, meaning
we have very high hopes for it. It's really a very original
style puzzler, but could be compared to The Three Dwarfs if
you tried hard enough, just with two instead :)

Anyway as we really get into the month Alien Front Online
comes out, and get ready for some si-fi shooting over the
net. Another $29.99 you need to earn over the summer.

Matt Hoffman is up next with his BMX, and judging by the
reviews this title has received on other platforms, it's
another Tony Hawk Pro Skater.

Beyond the middle of the month the big titles continue with
NCAA College Football 2K2. While it would be advised to
wait until the reviews come out before buying, just in case
it's another NHL 2K or Baseball 2K1, it's pretty safe to
lay down the cash and pre-order this one.

Propeller Arena was revealed at this years E3 show, and
it's AM2's take on dog fighting. For those not in-the-know,
this is Ariel combat, not lassie vs some French poodle. It
looks very promising, but perhaps with Alien Front Online
already out, this is best left to fans of the air. It does
come with the Dreamcast microphone however, meaning you can
stir up your opponents before shooting them down.

Then last but not least, Sega Bass Fishing 2. Now if you
didn't like the original, don't even give this title a
glance, but if you did, you've been waiting a long time for
more fishing action. This should be worth the wait, with
new modes such as two player, and plenty of new fish in the
Sega seas.

<<.>> July 10th 2001

Mark that date on your calendar now, because after July the
10th 2001, your life belongs to Sega. The US release date
for Phantasy Star Online Version 2 has been announced, and
as you no doubt have already deduced, it's July 10th.

While Sega has yet to announce details on the pay-per-play
scheme, if the price isn't too high, addicted players
around the globe will reach all new levels this summer...
or winter, depending on where you live... or those
countries which don't have seasons... well anyway, that's
the date, and isn't it amazing how the news of one date
could be padded out to this size :)

<<.>> Phantasy Star on Gameboy Advance!

Thanks to FGN for this weeks rumor, and it's a real juicy
one at that! Sega have more titles on the way for the
Gameboy Advance, possibly including Phantasy Star... See
what the Sega rep had to say when asked on the subject...

"It would obviously make sense for there to be a GBA
version of Phantasy Star, but I haven't heard anything
about it yet. I know further announcements are expected,
and if PS was one of them, maybe it could be a port of a
title form the 16-bit days."

There's even rumors going around the net now that there
could be a port of the Saturn's Phantasy Star Collection,
including all four 16-bit titles.

Next week...or three weeks from now: Gameboy Advance!

<<.>> Greatest.Question.Ever.

Q) I would like to know, does Sega.Net work on PS2?
    - Ken Pittman

A) Depends on what you mean. If you want to use it as an
ISP you might be out of luck, since it sounds like AOL
will be the only way PS2 owners can get online. If you
want to play online games...then you should own a DC!

<<.>> Predicting the Future

Q) I was just going through some old Sega World Weeklys,
(or as they were called, Dreamcast Weekly) and I found
issue #53. It was said in the Red Hot Rumors section
that Sega would be putting out a Sonic 3, as well as
Sonic Adventure 2. It also said that the Dreamcast would
outlast Dolphin, XBox, and PS2. Whatever happened to
   Sonic 3? - Xmacro

A) I think they were refering to the old Sonic 3 game, not
a SA3. In which case I don't know. Rumors had them
putting all the old Sonic games on one disk. I think
this rumor comes from the Smash Pack. Only we didn't
know about it then. Future Smash Packs, which are also
coming to the GBA, will probably have Sonic 3.

<<.>> Fishing for Dates

Q) In your Q & A someone asks about the newest Bass Fishing
game. I currently have a release date from Sega of 8/22
here in the states. - IndianaYankee

A) Wheel of Release Dates turn turn turn, tell us the date
we wish to learn... oops, this wasn't a question. Hehe.

<<.>> Questions of E3 and the X-Square

Q) What's up Zondaro! I want to know how good were the Xbox
   games at E3? - Dec3cm

A) Hmm, how to answer this without be accused of being
biased. As the little dog said, "its good, good for me
   to poop on!"

<<.>> Craving the Screen

Q) It seems like everytime I sit down at my computer/game
console, my girlfriend has other plans, in fact her
other plans constantly seem to coincide with anything
that has me sitting in front of a screen which isn't
the television, it seems suspicious to me, what do you
   think? - Gamer Ursus

A) Well, as I ascertained in my long, drawn out, How to
Reconcile Your Girlfreind with Your Gaming Habit
column, you need to lay down the law. Don't be a jerk,
but you have a life yourself, even if it includes
"crappy" video games. Tell her gently that you need
time to yourself, and then stick to it, or she'll
never know what her boundaries are. Though I must
say, sometimes that can be hard.

   - Lady X - http://www.gamecubeweekly.com/

<<.>> Playing with Joysticks

Q) Have you ever tried to find another, more interesting
use for the joystick? - Anonymous

A) Well now, I find that the joystick makes a lovely
party gift, is also a good paperweight, and can be a
good mixer for cake batter. But if you're talking
about something else, please, always remember to
unplug your appliances before finding alternative uses
   for them.
